Founders of Regis Lodge

The following are notes on the Founders of the Lodge,
where some detail is known.

John Dallow P.Pr.G.D
    Director, the first Master of the Lodge in 1922.
He was made an honorary member in October 1949.
Sidney Hill P.A.G.D.C
P.Pr.G.R
    A Grand Lodge Officer, appointed Senior Warden in 1922, followed as Master in 1923.
An insurance broker, he was an MP at one time, and a member of the Chainmakers Association.
Will Chapman P.Pr.G.D
   Will Chapman    Master in 1924.
He was also past master of Perseverence Master Mark Masons Lodge No 733 in the Province of Worcestershire.
He was an Engineer.

His nephew Ewart also became a member of the Lodge,
but never became Master. He founded A.E.Chapman & Co.Ltd, the electrical business in Old Hill.
Thomas Cooksey
    Master in 1925, a Solicitor.
Alfred Hill
    Auctioneer, Master in 1926.

   John Dallow Jr    Builder, Master in 1927.

George Beach Raybould
    Solicitor, Master in 1928, Headmaster at Cradley C.of E.School.
Arthur Powell
    Master in 1929.
Director. Took over Stringers Chain Works (opposite St Lukes church hall).
George Williams

   

Appointed Junior Warden in 1922, but didn't become Master until 1944.

A solicitor, father of W.Bro Charles Williams, who presented the lodge with a special dispensation to hold a meeting, granted to a prisoner-of-war camp at Changi (Singapore), during the war.

   Felix Pelford Fellows Gentleman. He was one of the Fellows of Corngreaves Hall.

   Daniel Morby Law clerk.

   James Harry Potts Manufacturer.
   Enoch Wheeler Iron merchant.
Supposed to have asked his bank for a loan to buy a submarine (granted).
   James Wheeler Metal merchant.
   Jasper Wheeler Founded Wheeler Tube Company.
   John Wheeler Iron merchant.
